Comments from Michigan Boaters
August, 2007-"The State of Michigan has done a
great job in providing safe havens every 25-30 miles down Lake Michigan, which
we have made use of, this state uses hunting and fishing license fees and
extra marine gas tax to build the marinas and provide access to the water for
its citizens. Most states put this money into the general state fund,
including NC. Here I don't mind paying extra money for gas, because it
supports the sport. Baums Rush has traveled to Frankfort, Mainistee,
Ludington, Pentwater, Muskegon and Grand Haven. Sometimes we get a slip at the
states marinas other times we just anchor out".
